Leaders of Tomorrow – Youth Leadership Program

Leaders of Tomorrow – Youth Leadership Program will provide urban Aboriginal youth currently attending high school or post secondary with a one day a week program promoting leadership skills. The Youth Leadership program will be accomplished through a 6 month, one day a week educational and training program.

Unit One:
An eight week leadership program offered by experienced leaders (Odawa Neeskak Toastmasters) in conjunction with Toastmasters International will build communication and leadership skills through evaluation of present speaking ability, presentation of speeches, impromptu talks, group evaluations, discussions on speech organizations, practice in listening, gestures in speaking, voice and vocabulary and finally discussion on chairmanship principles and exercising chairmanship.

Unit Two:
A series of speakers, workshops and field trips focused on leadership. This will include Aboriginal traditions (Elders) and teachings.

Unit Three:
A four week employment Readiness Training program which will include: How to write effective resumes, interview and employer expectations

Youth who have successfully completed the program will receive certificates. 

Eligibility:
Aboriginal youth from 16-25 years old, Status, Non-Status, Métis, or Inuit
